Ultrasound Examinations
Ultrasound in pet medicine is an important tool
Why would my pet need an ultrasound?

There are a number of reasons why an ultrasound could help diagnose an issue with your pet. The following is a list of some of the conditions that may require an ultrasound:

Abnormal blood work, Cancer staging, Chronic infections, Change in urinary habits, Long-lasting diarrhea or vomiting
Pregnancy, Pre-surgery, and other important conditions may need the use of an ultrasound or radiology / x-rays.
Our advanced in-house veterinary ultrasound features high-tech equipment it allows us to perform many lab services in-house. Most services we can perform in our Florence Animal Hospital Laboratory.

Ultrasound Services
Ultrasound Examinations
Our veterinarian can use the ultrasound machine to see internal organs, and their consistency, that we wouldn't be able to see by just looking at your pet.

An Ultrasound doesn't use radiation; it uses high frequency sound (ultrasound) waves to create an image.
While ultrasounds don’t always provide definitive answers, they can help us determine whether further blood work or any additional imaging is necessary.
If you have any questions or concerns about what to expect during an ultrasound, or how one could help your pet, please contact us at Florence Animal Hospital in Florence South Carolina.
Digital Radiographs, X-rays
Digital X-Rays
With digital X-rays, we can produce images of your pet's bones and internal organs.

We utilize digital radiography with our full sized X-ray machine.

This is a valuable diagnostic tool in veterinary medicine which can be used to evaluate almost any body part; including the heart, lungs, stomach, bones and teeth.

This gives our vets at Florence Animal Hospital information about your pet that we could never see by just looking at them.
Digital Radiographs, X-rays
Radiography is painless, safe and completely non-invasive.
X-rays allow our veterinarians evaluate the muscular-skeletal, cardiovascular (cardiopulmonary), gastrointestinal, reproductive and urinary systems. We’ll use this fast and painless diagnostic technique to check for any abnormalities or inconsistencies within your pet’s body so that we can address them in a timely and effective manner.

Internal Medicine
Preventive Healthcare, In-House Diagnostics
As humans, when we are sick, we have the ability to go to the doctor, to explain what’s wrong and to receive the appropriate treatment.

When our animals become ill, or have suffered an injury, however, it’s much more challenging to figure out what’s wrong.

Because pets can’t speak, they can’t tell us what’s bothering them, where it hurts or what their symptoms are.

Laboratory equipment allows our experienced doctors get a glimpse below the surface of the skin and learn exactly what’s happening inside your pet’s body so we can quickly and accurately diagnose and treat whatever is ailing them, improving the chances of a positive outcome.
